Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS) is dedicated to leaving an encouraging mark in the sphere of education not only on the students, but also on the teachers worldwide. Our promise to this dedication rests on our in-house teacher training institution, ADEPT (Applied Development in Education Programmes and Trainings) whose mission is to pass on the tried and tested teaching methods and pedagogy techniques acquired pedagogically at MGIS to the rest of the teaching fraternity world over.

Vision of Transformative Education

We use ADEPT to open the doors of our visionary school to teachers all over the world. We aim at equipping teachers with the latest teaching strategies making them convinced and capable of changing the lives of learners. The center is committed to the teaching and spreading of the Generated Resource Learning ( GRL) pedagogy, an original method of teaching and learning that has years of improvement and perfection at MGIS.

MGIS has a philosophy about education being more than about delivery of materials. It is an exercise in the creation of the future, creating leaders and in making effective and caring global citizens. ADEPT is a learning and professional development initiative that guides educators on how to bring about the change in the classroom using this transformative pedagogy that can make a difference in the life of students one educator at a time.

Why ADEPT?

The mission statement of ADEPT is modest yet deep rooted in boosting human knowledge and understanding of whole child development. Our classroom-based action research provides the foundation from which our training programs are based, and enables us to offer the tools and knowledge to the teacher so that they may go forth and build an inclusive, engaging and empowering classroom.

We do not merely embrace conventional training techniques. It emphasizes on experience based learning, emotional, spiritual development and democratic education in a bid to make sure that the teachers are well prepared to face the challenges of the current dynamic world.

Training Modules at ADEPT

To assist the teachers and guide them to develop professionally, ADEPT provides the training process on a multi-level basis. The various levels of training to be offered are as below:

GRL Level 1: An overview of MGIS Teaching Methods

The three-day introductory course turns into the immersion in the principles of the Generated Resource Learning pedagogy. The teachers will become aware of:

  • Create a project-based curriculum that is engaging.
  • Develop assessment activities which are fun and interactive within the students to learn more and develop.
  • The course is a prerequisite, and as such teachers in this course will be equipped to use GRL in their classrooms once they complete this course, so as to produce a more holistic, inquiry based learning environment.

GRL Level 2: National Program- GRL- producing Leaders in the Future

During this advanced workshop, the teachers will be introduced into using a selection of techniques used in Neuro-Linguistics Programming (NLP), Gestalt and yoga to:

  • Provide a favorable nurturing classroom environment.
  • Give the students the leadership traits and life skills to prepare them to face the constantly changing world.
  • Embrace the spirit of democracy in the classroom where students are to govern themselves and speak out in the learning process.
  • Place emphasis on the well-being of students so that they can come out as emotionally and socially competent beings fit to become successful.

GRL Level 3 : Teaching the Spiritual Aspect in Curriculum

This kind of training involves growth of consciousness and spiritual development of educators. Teachers will consider:

  • Mindfulness methods and ways of how to make both teachers and students relax and improve their learning.
  • What can be done in order to switch to the calmer and thoughtful states (alpha and theta brainwaves) instead of the states of high stress.
  • The potentials of mindfulness as an individual growth process, how it can be used to enhance the teaching process itself and the teacher.
  • This level will foster the connection between the personal preparation of the teacher and his or her teaching skills that will best exemplify this level of education as a fully integrated part of it.

GRL Level 4: Train-the-Teacher

Train-the-Teacher is the final process to those who complete all the other three above. This tier enables the teachers to be GRL Teacher Trainers in which they:

  • Discover how to educate and guide other teachers in learning the Generated Resource Learning pedagogy method.
  • Be a crucial member of the world to improve the educational system by disseminating new forms of teaching.
  • By means of this final training, the teachers are able to share the knowledge, the tools, and techniques which they have learnt with other teachers and the impact of good changes in the educational world starts spreading like the ripple as it is indeed known.
